Young singers from across the region are invited to audition for the choirs of the Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy’s spring season.
Auditions for the East Tennessee Children’s Choir (grades 4 and up) and registration for the Johnson City Explorers (grades 1-3) are held May 13, 4-5:30 p.m. at Munsey Church, Johnson City, Tennessee.
Auditions for the Emory Virginia Children’s Choir (grades 4 and up) and registration for Emory Explorers (grades 1-3) are held May 16, from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Chapel on the Emory & Henry College campus, Emory, Virginia.
No preparation is necessary for the auditions which are conducted in a small group format, and consist of singing familiar songs, and a few pitch and rhythm activities.
No audition is necessary for the Explorers, but new singers are asked to come to the registration event which runs concurrently with the Children’s Choir auditions.
Singers in grades 9 and up may audition for the Highlands Youth Ensemble. They should contact Jane Morison directly to set up an audition atdirector@meccacademy.org.
MECCA choirs perform yearly concerts with the Symphony of the Mountains and receive annual invitations to sing for the Candlelight Christmas Evenings at the Biltmore Estate.
