The Catherine DeCaterina School of Theatre Arts is open to all ages and experience levels seeking to improve their theater skills, build confidenceand prepare for upcoming productions. Creative Dramatics is on Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 p.m., from Aug.26 through Oct. 14: 5-6 year olds spark a love for being onstage in Creative Dramatics. Topics include theater games, improv, practicing being something you’re not, audition practiceand more. The class will help develop confidence, knowledge, disciplineand imagination.Participants also have fun and make friends who enjoy the theaterarts.
Acting 1 is on Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m., from Aug. 28 through Oct.16: Ages 7-8 learn terminology, theatrical movement, characterization, basic acting techniques, memorization techniquesand lay a foundation for scene work. This is an excellent course for students interested in starting to understand the acting craft. The class will help develop confidence, knowledge, disciplineand imagination.While students will work hard, they will also spend lots of time playing theatergames and having fun with peers. This course is a prerequisite for Acting 2.
Theatre Bristolpresents classes and workshops as part of its family-friendly 60th season of ARTspace and Paramount shows. Founded in 1965 by Cathy DeCaterina, Theatre Bristol is a community theaterserving all ages that also has the distinction as the oldest continually running children’s theaterin Northeast Tennessee. Located on historic State Street in Bristol, it equally serves Southwest Virginia. Its Main Stage season consists of drama, comedyand musical productions that take place in the Theatre Bristol ARTspace black box theater, the newly-acquired Cameo Theatre, and on the Paramount Bristol stage.
