December 10–13, 2024 @ Slocumb Galleries
East Tennessee State University presents the B.A. Studio Art Senior Exhibition showcasing a variety of themes, subjects, and media specific techniques. This year’s exhibition is the culmination of students’ hard work and a place where skills can be appreciated as they look forward to post-graduation events. Each student’s work reflects personal experiences combined with experimentation encouraged by faculty and peers. Work ranges from quilting and screen printing to painting and drawing.
The exhibition is open to the public through Dec. 13in the Slocumb Galleries located in Ball Hall on the main ETSU campus. A reception takes place Friday, Dec. 13from 5-7 p.m., with food, drinks, and community engagement activities. The artists will be in attendance to discuss their works and answer questions.
Student Artists include:
Jojo Griffithsis an artist who creates vibrant digital art and sculpture that emphasizes character design, creature design, anatomy and gore, and world-building.
Gracyn Mills, who works with portrait photography, uses the people in her life and favored locations as a blueprint for creative activities.
Noelle Moczygembacreates vibrant drawings and loom-woven fabric to express her strong appreciation for the anatomy of living bodies.
Cherish Rooneycreates work using ball point pen, watercolor technique, and graphite. She uses techniques such as hatching, cross-hatchingand scribbling, and her subjects are representations of interpersonal relationships.
Callie Scottis a figurative artist who creates paintings and drawings that represent intimate interactions inspired by empathy.
Evan Webbcreates two-dimensional mixed-media pieces that feature bright, saturated color and clown imagery. Themes depict inner feelings of the need to perform.
Graysen Whetselis an artist who marries an admiration for science and art through a mixed series using a variety of scales, mediums, and techniques. Her work aims to replicate features of human anatomy to enhance the viewer’s experience with imagery.
