Pedro Lasch exhibit opens

April 16 – July 13, 2025 @ Asheville Art Museum

The Asheville Art Museum announces its upcoming exhibition, "Coatlicue & Las Meninas: The Stanford Edition," on view fromApril 16 to July 13. This thought-provoking exhibition by Pedro Laschexplores identity, migrationand colonial histories through striking reflective artworks that merge European masterpieces with pre-Columbian figures. Lasch is a visual artist who has been practicing for over 30 years, producing studio art and immersive community projects. He has taught at Duke University since 2002.

"Coatlicue & Las Meninas: The Stanford Edition" is the first artwork commissioned for“What Can Become of Us?,”a nationwide initiative led by theStanford Institute for Advancing Just Societiesand Zócalo Public Square. This project envisions new perspectives on migration, America’s diverse communities, and how people come together across differences. The year-long series activates four regions of the United States and highlights newly commissioned works of art to inspire a national conversation about working toward a better future through exhibitions, public programsand essays.
