Charming Japanese folktales are combined with traditional musical instruments, handcrafted masks, origamiand mime to create a spellbinding story by artist and educator Kuniko Yamamoto. Sheenchants audiences of every age with dramatic storytelling using myths and fables from ancient and modern Japan, spiced with social revelations to educate and amuse, and a touch of magic to create an artistic balance of illusion and reality.

Kuniko Yamamoto presents “Mime, Mask, and Music from Japan” Friday, Sept. 19at 7 p.m. at Lyric Theater in St. Paul.Tickets are $15 at the door. Children and students will be admitted free. For more information and to make reservations, visitproartva.org.

?Trained in dance and traditional arts in her native Osaka, Japan,Kuniko Yamamotohas lived in Florida since 1992. Yamamoto received national exposure performing Japanese Storytelling at the Silk Road International Exposition and on Kansai National TV. She has performed at The Kennedy Center, Disney Epcot Center, International Children’s Festival in Canadaand the National Storytelling Festival.
