Community Day is held at the museum

You're invited to join the fun at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum's annual Community Day event in historic downtown bristol Oct. 26. There will be music, dancing, stories, and trick-or-treating candy while supplies last.There is no cost to attend, and guests are invited to tour the museum for free all day long. Museum hours that day are 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

"Families with children are encouraged to drop by after Pumpkin Palooza and the costume contest in Cumberland Square Parkfor a spooky story or dancing — and much more," said museum Head Curator Dr. Rene Rodgers. "But kids of all ages will also have a wonderful time."

Family-friendly activities at the museum are offered 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and include an Instrument Petting Zoo, Spooky Story Time every half hour, and Dancing & Music with Boppin' Bailey George in 30 minute sessions — 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12 p.m., and 12:45 p.m. Scavenger hunts will be on hand to help you explore the museum's exhibits, and coloring and activity sheets will be available to take home.

Local and regional musicians gather for an on-site jam session led by East Tennessee Bluegrass Associationfrom 2-5 p.m. Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join in; everyone is welcome to sit in for a listen.
