Grammy-nominated Americana road warriorsThe Wood Brothers headlineWBCM Radio Bristol's"Farm and Fun Time" with indie-folk "Queen of Time"Lindsay Louat Paramount Center for the Arts, Bristol, Tennessee,Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. The program is the second date in The Wood Brothers' fall tour, with the band fielding requests from fans via social media to help compile their set list.
"Last year we focused heavily on our new album 'Heart Is The Hero,' playing the record close to its entirety at each show," explains Oliver Wood. "So we wanted to do something a little different for this tour and switch up the sets night to night. We figured what better way than asking our amazing fans who've been so loyal and wonderful to us all these years what they want to hear. It's been really fun to get their input and dig into some deeper cuts that we rarely, if ever, dusted off."
For the better part of two decades, The Wood Brothers have cemented their reputation as freethinking songwriters, road warriorsand community builders, creating a catalog of diverse music and a loyal audience who've grown alongside them through the years. That evolution continues with "Heart is Hero," the band's eight studio album. Recorded analog to 16-track tape, this latest effort finds its three creators embracing the chemistry of their acclaimed live shows by capturing their performances in real-time, direct from the studio floor with nary a computer in sight.
The daughter of a coal miner and the granddaughter of a teacher gone Rainbow Gathering healer, Lindsay Lou honed her honest and resonant style with her bluegrass-inspired band, Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys, and Michigan supergroup, Sweet Water Warblers (Rachael Davis, May ERlewine), excavating elements of bluegrass, folk, Americana, and soulful pop for their emotional depths. Her latest album, "Queen of Time," features the Dobro work of Jerry Douglas and a duet with her friend, Billy Strings. Named among NPR's "12 Best Live Performances" of 2015, Lou has long been beloved as a live performer, from Telluride Bluegrass Festival to Stagecoach, Celtic Connections to Australia's National Folk Festival.
