Markiw exhibit is on display

September 6–30, 2024 @ Fischman Gallery

Watercolors and watercolor collages by Theresa Markiw are featured at Fischman Gallery during September. The daughter of Ukrainian emigres, Markiw began studying art at the age of 8. From childhood she was strongly influenced by nature and the art traditions of her Ukrainian heritage – the rich colors and intricate designs of embroideries, woodcarvings, decorated Easter eggsand Byzantine icons. Years of traveling and living abroad in Europe, the Far Eastand Eurasia further expanded her aesthetic understanding and artistic vocabulary. "My art combines a love of nature and simple objects with the play of color, pattern, and form to express feelings and ideas," Markiw says.
