Winter Stories by the Fire is held Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area, Elizabethton, Tennessee.
Join Park Ranger Taylor Moorefield for a seasonal story time inside a log cabin. Various traditional stories are shared, including some centered around the Christmas season during the 18thcentury. Learn about General Washington’s crossing of the Delaware on Christmas Day, Landon Carter, and the revolutionary battles he fought in during the Christmas season of 1780, as well as more far-fetched tales – like when Davy Crockett saved the world by thawing out the sun one cold winter morning.Meet at the Talbot Cabin inside Fort Watauga.
Tickets are $8 adult, $4youth7-17, free 6 and younger.
