AAME lecture focuses on new museum

October 29, 2014

The Arts Alliance Mountain Empire Speakers Series, in cooperation with the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, announces a presentation by project architects Peyton Boyd and Michael Haslam, detailing their work and the challenges in adapting the historic former car dealership into a modern exhibit facility. (For background on their work, check out the September issue of A! Magazine, available online, www.artsmagazine.info).

For more than a decade, the Birthplace of Country Music worked with architects, exhibit designers, historians, builders and other creative individuals to tell the story of the Bristol Sessions with passion, insight and humor. The recently opened museum affords visitors an entertaining and informative experience in a sensitively renovated building.

The event is held in the Performance Theater of the museum Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. There is no admission cost for the presentation, as the museum exhibit spaces will be closed at that time. Boyd and Haslam lead a short tour of of the museum after the talk. If you would like to visit the museum before attending the lecture, the BCMM will offer a discounted entry from 4 p.m. (with extended opening until the lecture starts). Just tell the reception desk you are there to attend the AAME Speaker Series, and you can get a ticket for $11 + tax.
