More people are interested in publishing books today than ever before, and there are more publication options than before.
Books can be published online or in traditional book form. They can be self-published or writers can obtain publication contracts from publishers both small and large.
The following three stories illustrate the path three local writers took to get their books published.
All three will be participants in the first Highlands Writers Fair. The fair is held April 13 at the Washington County Public Library, Abingdon, Virginia, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Washington County Library and the Virginia Highlands Festival.
