May 3, 2010

From the Americans for the Arts e-newsletter,April 2010:

The Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF) recently released a survey of more than 1,300 nonprofit leaders in markets nationwide and found many are facing year-over-year increases in demand and continue to operate with little-to-no financial buffer.

According to the survey's findings, nearly 90 percent of respondents expect 2010 to be as difficult or more difficult than 2009; only 12 percent expect 2010 to be financially easier for their organizations. Eighty percent of nonprofits anticipate an increase in demand for services in 2010, and only 49 percent expect to be able to fully meet this demand level. The majority - 61 percent - have less than three months of cash available; 12 percent have none.
