Charity Marciano, a senior at Virginia High School in Bristol, Virginia was chosen as the first place winner of an anti-drug poster contest.
Sponsored by Highlands Community Services, Center for Behavioral Health, the theme of the contest was "Art Creates; Drugs Destroy." Marciano received $100 and school supplies for her winning poster, which showed a colorful image of flowers slowly disintegrating.
The artwork was used as an illustration for a printed poster for the Prevention and Education department of the Virginia organization.
HCS, which has been in operation for 35 years, provides mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse services to people in Bristol and Washington County, Virginia.
