Join the Appalachian Men’s Ensemble for a musical journey around the globe in search of holiday cheer. The public is invited to attend two performances of “Christmas Around the World” Saturday, Dec. 16. The 3 p.m. performance takes place at Central Presbyterian Church, Bristol, Virginia, followed by a 7:30 p.m. performance at Gray United Methodist Church, Gray, Tennessee.

The Appalachian Men’s Ensemble includes singers from across the Tri-Cities region and is committed to engaging audiences through musical precision, passion and commonality. With a dual sense of spirited fraternity and professional excellence, AMEn aims to bring a variety of choral music to the community, and to educate, inspire and entertain audiences through its activities. The ensemble is conducted by artistic director Dr. Noah DeLong.

The concert program includes seasonal selections from France, Spain, Russia, Germany, Canada, Scotland, the USA and Hawaii. Highlights include “Salvation is Created” by Chesnokov, “Brightest and Best” by Kirchner and a new arrangement of “Silent Night” by AMEn’s pianist, Steve Sensenig. In addition, several pieces are accompanied by guest violinist Dr. Marianna Brickle, including arrangements of “Huron Carol” and “Auld lang syne.”

“This program explores a rich variety of Christmas musical traditions from around the world,” said DeLong. “We hope audience members will be both entertained and enlightened by attending one of our upcoming concerts.”

Donations are accepted at the door, with suggested amounts of $10 for adults and $5 for students. Additional information and concert updates can be found at www.appmensensemble.org and on Facebook.
