Barter Theatre Kiosk wins award

ABINGDON, VA -- Barter Theatre's informational kiosk, "Milton's Guide toBarter Theatre," has received a 2006 Gold ADDY award for interactivemedia by the Tri-City Metro Advertising Federation.

"Milton's Guide" was designed by Barter Theatre and N*tara, a visualcommunication company based in Johnson City, Tenn.

The computer kiosks are located in the lobbies of Barter Theatre and BarterStage II, providing information about the community, surrounding visitorsattractions and a behind-the-scenes look at Barter Theatre.

With its unique beginnings during the Great Depression, Barter Theatre,one of this nation's oldest professional non-profit theatres is a theatreof firsts; one of this nation's first professional regional theatres, the firstprofessional theatre to be designated a state theatre -- The State Theatreof Virginia -- and more.

Today, Barter offers a variety of musicals, classics, comedies, dramas and newsouthern and Appalachian plays performed February-December yearly on twostages: Barter Theatre and Barter Stage II.
