JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- The Johnson City Public Library is now offering book discussion kits that can be checked out for use by any interested local book discussion groups.
The library has named this service Traveling Tales: Book Groups to Go, and the kits are available at the Reference Desk on the second floor.
Each kit consists of a tote bag with 12 paperback copies of the same title. A Reading Guide with discussion questions is included in the bag. The books have previously been used in the Library's own book discussion groups, and include such titles as The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards, Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser, and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
Gail Campbell, Adult Services Librarian, says, "Being able to check out multiple copies of a title solves a problem for many book groups, because all the members can have a copy of the book to read at the same time at no expense."
Traveling Tales are checked out by one member of the club for a period of two months, which gives club members time to read the book, discuss the book, gather up the books and return the tote bag to the Library.
To check out a Traveling Tales tote or learn more about this service, visit the Reference Desk at the Library or call 423-434-4454.
