BRISTOL, TN/VA - The mayors from both sides of town have proclaimed Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 as A! Magazine for the Arts Day. On that same day, the Bristol Music Club's annual fundraiser will pay tribute to the magazine.

A! Magazine for the Arts
Whereas, for more than 15 years, A! Magazine for the Arts has stimulated, informed, and connected the people of the region about arts and cultural events and activities of our community, and
Whereas, A! Magazine strongly supports goals in common with The Bristol Music Club, especially nurturing, encouraging, and promoting young artists through its Youth Spotlight feature, which has included several winners of The Bristol Music Club Scholarships, and
Whereas, A! Magazine supports local performers, composers and visual artists, in a broad spectrum of music, theatre, and visual arts, and
Whereas, A! Magazine has received recognition for its excellence through:
• Tennessee Governor's Award for Arts Leadership in March, 2003
• A Pinnacle Award from the Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association in 2007
• and three awards from the Tri-Cities Regional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, 2009, and
Whereas, A! Magazine maintains superior journalistic standards, provides complete coverage of arts events in the region, and is a sought-after site for advertising these events, and
Whereas, A! Magazine's parent organization, Arts Alliance Mountain Empire (AAME), nurtures, advocates and celebrates the arts in our community and was a 2006 winner of the Award for Arts Leadership from the Arts Council of Greater Kingsport,
Now, Therefore, We, Margaret Feierabend, Mayor of the City of Bristol, Tennessee and Don Ashley, Mayor of the City of Bristol, Virginia, do hereby proclaim November 12, 2010 as A! Magazine for the Arts Day in Bristol, and extend heartfelt thanks to AAME and A! Magazine for the Arts as they continue their work in enhancing the cultural environment of this community.
