Bristol Professor's Work Selected for Rosen Sculpture Exhibition

BOONE, N.C. -- Jon Mehlferber, Virginia Intermont College associate professor of art, has won the honor of having work accepted into 22nd Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition, a national juried competition.

It is presented annually by the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.

This year's exhibition will be on display April 17 through March 1, 2009. The exhibition juror is Dr. Sarah Clark-Langager, who has been curator of the renowned Outdoor Sculpture Collection and director of the Western Gallery at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash., since 1988.

Mehlferber has taught at Virginia Intermont since 1994 and also chairs the college's Fine Arts Division. He earned his Ph.D. in art theory and criticism from the University of Georgia in 1993.
