The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor Cornelia Kodkani-Laemmli will join The Duke Ellington Orchestra for two evenings of classy jazz Jan. 12 and 13.
The jazz concerts will take place at 8p.m. in the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and will feature the popular tunes of "the jazz king" himself including "Take the A-Train," "Satin Doll," "Mood Indigo" and "Sentimental Mood."
Today's Duke Ellington Orchestra brings to life the unmistakable music created by the "Jazz King" and his original orchestra. Ellington created more than 6,000 pieces of music, including blockbuster standards like Take the A-Train, It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing), Don't Get Around Much Anymore, I Got It Bad and That Ain't Good, Mood Indigo, Prelude To a Kiss, Satin Doll, Solitude and Sophisticated Lady. Step back into the classy jazz of "The Duke" in a Cotton Club-esque setting.
