The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in downtown Bristol opens Aug. 1 with a weekend of special activities.
Friday, Aug. 1 the musem opens to the public at 10 a.m., offering a reduced admission price of $10.
The Grand Opening ceremonies are held from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2. The museum opens to the public at 3 p.m. ($10 admission)
Free concerts begin at 3 p.m., with Dr. Ralph Stanley. The Orthophonic Joy music contest winner performs at 5 p.m. Carlene Care and Jim Lauderdale perform at 7 p.m., and The Whistles and The Bells perform at 9 p.m.
Many downtown retailers are getting into the spirit of things Aug. 2 by staying opening late. There will be scavenger hunts, buskers, a photo booth and more.
The museum is open Sunday, Aug. 3 from 1-5 p.m., at regular admission prices, $13 adults; seniors, students, children and military, $11.
