Duane Cregger’s painting, Kuebiko.Silver (oil on canvas with acrylic underpainting, 48x72x2.25 inches, 2018), was awarded an honorable mention at the Olin Hall Galleries 2019 Juried Biennial Exhibition at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. The show runs through March 17.
Fifty artists were selected from hundreds of submissions, and his piece was chosen for one of six awards. He received a follow-up call from the gallery director a few days after the reception inviting him for a solo exhibition in Olin Hall's Smoyer Gallery in September.
The Juried Biennial has been exhibited every two years since 1990 and exemplifies works of art from artists within a 200-mile radius of Roanoke College. Fine arts media, including, but not limited to, ceramics, graphic design, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, and video are accepted for submission.
The 2019 juror Elizabeth Cross is a poet, senior fellow at George Mason University’s Center of the Advancement of Well-Being, and education consultant. She has designed art and writing programs with the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art and the National Portrait Gallery. Awards and grants for her work include Michigan Council for the Arts, Gertrude Stein Award for Innovative Writers and the Rocky Mountain Women’s Institute.
