ABINGDON, Va. -- Barter Theatre put out a call for help in building accessible picnic tables for Stonewall Square, and a local boy scout answered the call.
At Barter's request, Nathaniel Tayloe built the new tables that will allow Barter patrons and guests to Stonewall Square to roll a wheelchair upevenly with the tables to enjoy a meal or visit with friends on the beautiful Stonewall Square overlooking Abingdon's Main Street. As part of his Eagle project, Tayloe carefully researched and designed the tables to insure they meet all American Disabilities Act codes for accessibility.
A 2007 Abingdon High School graduate, Tayloe will attend East Tennessee State University in the fall and is the son of David and Elizabeth Tayloe.
Special thanks is extended to Berry Home Centers for the donation of all materials for the tables, to Scoutmaster Thomas Fowlkes, and Tayloe's friends who assisted in the project.
