A musical that explores the consequences of relying on half-truths is presented in September at the McGlothlin Center for the Arts at Emory & Henry College, Emory, Virginia.
The Emory & Henry College theater department presents “Old Turtle and the Broken Truth” at 3 p.m. Sept. 23-24 and 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sept. 30 in the Black Box Theatre of the McGlothlin Center.
Adapted from a book by Douglas Wood, the play portrays events in a village after “truth” falls from the sky and breaks into two pieces. Villagers cling to only part of what is true, and violence threatens to disturb an otherwise peaceful world.
With a script written by Catherine Bush and music and lyrics by Dax Dupuy, this musical adaptation is intended to remind audiences of the importance of understanding.
Tickets for the production are $15 and may be purchased at the McGlothlin Center box office by calling 276-944-6333 or online at www.ehc.edu/mca/tickets.
