Students from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee, brought home
numerous awards from the Tennessee Communication Association Student Film Contest.
Held in Dickson, the event included participants from 10 colleges and universities in
Tennessee. Twenty-eight films were selected for the "Short Film Category," and the top three
honors were presented to individuals affiliated with ETSU.

Mike Fink, a recent graduate of ETSU's radio, television, video and film program, took
first place for "Woe Unto the Fountains My Darling" and second place for "Carmel Macchiato."
The third place award was presented to Jami Bennett, also a recent ETSU graduate, and Jess
Hillyer from the ETSU department of art and design for "A Sound Discovery."

Shara Lange, who leads the RTVF program in ETSU's department of mass communications,
was the faculty mentor for these projects. "Woe Unto the Fountains My Darling" was
also voted as the audience favorite.

In the "Commercial Category," ETSU digital media students Tate Johnson, Ally Schatzer
and Shasta Bailey won first place for "Oreos," with Kaitlyn Nicely and Jeb Johnson, also students in the digital media program, taking second place honors for "Nike."
