JOHNSON CITY - East Tennessee State University's digital media program has been named among the "Top 15 Animation and Game Design Schools in the South" in an article by Animation Career Review.

Schools in 11 southern states were evaluated, and ETSU came in at number eight. The university's three digital media concentrations encompassing digital animation, digital visualization, and digital interaction and game design were mentioned.

Special attention was paid to a new master's degree in New Media Studio Art, which allows students to expand their knowledge to include emerging techniques such as 3-D animation, gaming, motion capture, video and special effects, image editing, digital illustration, visualization and graphic design.

The ETSU digital media program is part of the Department of Engineering Technology, Surveying and Digital Media within the College of Business and Technology. However, the publication also mentioned programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, including drawing and graphic design in the Department of Art and Design and the radio/television/video/film program within the Department of Communication.
