Similar in intent though different in form and material are the small-scale metal sculptures of Alison Pack [Radford, Va.] and the collaborative assemblage sculptures of Baldwin True North and Mindy North [Riner, Va.]. In Pack's work, parts of the human anatomy metamorphose with ordinary functional objects to create humorous fantasies having sexual overtones. North and North also display a sense of humor as they take garish objects of commercial culture and assemble them into vibrant, but kitschy tableaux depicting the holy figures of Buddha and Krishna imagined as modern-day children.
