"Heat Wave" by Herb Jackson
Jackson has visited Littleton Studios numerous times over the years. Jackson's realm of color has become richer and more tangible in his newly published prints, which combine intaglio vitreography with digital transfer. The imagery goes right to the edges of the paper deckle, making for a subtle interface between artwork and the space that surrounds it.
Jackson is a faculty member and former Chair of the Art Department at Davidson College in North Carolina. His works have been shown nationally and internationally for more than 30 years. In 1999 he received the North Carolina Award, the state's highest civilian honor for Lifetime Achievement in Fine Arts.
Jackson received his Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College in 1967 and his MFA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1970. His works can be found in more than 80 museum collections, including the Library of Congress, Smithsonian Institution, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, among others.
