Linda Hudson Hoagland, of North Tazewell, Virginia, is the newly elected president of the Appalachian Authors Guild that meets monthly in Abingdon, Virginia. At the end of 2014, the Appalachian Authors Guild had over 60 members and is growing.
The mission of the Appalachian Authors Guild, a chapter of the Virginia Writers Club, is to support and promote literary art throughout the Appalachian region, to encourage writers and authors to both preserve and build upon the literary history and heritage of the Appalachian region along with the creation of contemporary stories reflecting the make-up of the good people of Appalachia and to provide opportunities for readers to experience the joy of meeting our people, visiting our beautiful region and understanding the wealth of our culture through literary art.
