BRISTOL, VA - Owls run the postal service for Harry Potter's Hogwarts school. Virginia Intermont College students got up close and personal with an owl and an opossum when Wynn Wood Wildlife Rehab from Elizabethton, Tenn. visited the campus during Harry Potter Week.
From "sorting day" to a mail call, Virginia Intermont College students got into the spirit of the opening of the latest film in the Harry Potter series created by British author J.K. Rowling.
"Harry Potter and the Death Hallows, Part 1" opened nationwide Friday, Nov. 19, 2010. Tinseltown Theatres in Bristol, Va. and the Abingdon Cinemall had showtimes just after the stroke of midnight.
"It is a story we have grown up with," said Natascha Carlucci, one of the student organizers at VI.
Other activities had students being "sorted" into "houses" or teams for competitive events, and a "horcrux" scavenger hunt (a horcrux is an object of black magic).
