Independent film Freedom receives six awards

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Freedom made its film festival debut in October 2007at the Second Annual Southern Appalachian International Film Festival in Johnson City,Tenn. and received six awards: Best Film, Best Direction, Best Cinematography,Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (John Hedges) and Honorable
Mention in Acting (Eugene Wolf).

More than 50 feature films, documentaries and shorts were screened duringthe weekend festival which was held in various sites around the area.

The weekend also marked the debut of the new Freedom DVD whichwent on sale online, at the Battle of Blue Springs Civil War reenactment inMosheim, Tenn.

DVDs are also available at selected retail sites in the Abingdon, Va. area, includingZazzy'z Coffee Shop; the Historical Society of Washington County, Va.; the
Barter Theatre Gift Shop; and the in Meadowview, Va. at the Meadowview Farmers' Guild.
