Jacob Boyd combines two loves in his artistic endeavors – acting and modeling.

He got involved in theater at Tennessee High School and works with the Gage Agency in Knoxville, Tennessee, for his modeling career. He has performed in multiple plays at school and one with River’s Way and Theatre Bristol. He was featured in “Addams Family Musical,” and has been in “10 Ways to Survive the Holidays” and theater arts showcase at Tennessee High.

He was on the cover of “The Seen,” a magazine in Charlotte, North Carolina, and walked the runway at New York Fashion Week.

“That was crazy. I walked for The Box Method. That designer, she’s been in Vogue which is quite amazing. I have also walked for Hive & Colonya few times. I really likethat style of clothing,” Jacob says.

He is planning to audition for the next musical at school and has a photoshoot this month for a clothing line.

He says that the two disciplines complement one another.

“One helps me with the other. The runwayis basically a stage. That’s my mindset. They are both forms of entertainment. There is always a mark to hit. They both also have ‘costumes’ that you really mustbe careful in and take care of.

“Theater is an experienceto connectwith people with a similar passion. It means family and community. I met my best friends in the theater. My own group. It gives me the opportunityto expressmyself in different ways. I get to be someone else for a while. I prefer acting. I love singing, but I’m definitelynot the best singer. I am looking to improve on that very soon with classes,” he says.

One influence is David Tennant. “I first saw him in ‘Doctor Who,’ and I enjoyedhischarisma. I think he is a phenomenalactor, and I striveto be on his levelone day,” Jacob says.

Tennant’s influence carries over into Jacob’s favorite hobby – cosplay. Two of the characters he dresses as are Tennant roles: the tenth doctor from “Doctor Who,” and Crowly from “Good Omens.” His other cosplay roles are Beetlejuice, The Riddler, Newt Scamander and the Joker.

His mother, Kara Boyd, works at a local convention, Smokey Mountain Fan Fest and Smokey Mountain Terror. While she works with celebrity guests, Jacob cosplays and meets his friends. He also attends other conventions, such as Dragon Con and Creation Entertainment’s SPN conventions (focuses on the show “Supernatural”).

“I have met many celebrities at these events and have met other con goers who are now lifelong friends,” he says.

Jacob’s goal is to be a full-time actor on stage and/or film. He would love to be on Broadway one day.

Jacob is from Bristol, Tennessee. He is a 17-year-old junior at Tennessee High School, Bristol, Tennessee. His parentsare Waylon & Kara Boyd.
