The Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts announces that Kingsport resident Catherine Anderson-Quinones participated in Christmas concerts at the White House. She is the daughter of Daryl Anderson and Juana Quinones.
Anderson-Quinones is a 2011 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and is a student at DePauw University in Indiana. She will also be performing with the DePauw Chamber Orchestra in the Brahms-Saal in Vienna's famed Musikverein in January.
The ensembles that made the trip to the nation's capital include the DePauw Jazz Combo, DePauw Chamber Singers, Asbury String Quartet and DePauw Cello Ensemble. Each group performed two hours of holiday music; DePauw students provided the entire day of music.
"The quality of our students and faculty is very well known throughout the country, and we are thrilled to receive this invitation," says Mark McCoy, dean of the DePauw University School of Music. "Typically, guests are invited to give a short performance. That we have been invited to provide music for an entire day is particularly remarkable."
