The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has released a comprehensive set of guidelines relating to the distribution of $50 million in economic stimulus funds approved by Congress in February 2009.
The guidelines outline the steps that local arts organizations need to take to receive direct grants that specifically preserve jobs in the arts.
One major restriction of the direct grants is that applicants must have received an NEA grant within the last four years. This restriction is based in part on direction from the White House Office of Management and Budget in order to ensure swift distribution of the recovery funding throughout the country to organizations with proven track records of handling government grants.
