Jerauld (Jerry) Hill Goodpasture
BRISTOL, TN / VA - Two arts-related honorees were recognized when the Mayors of Bristol Virginia and Bristol Tennessee presented their Award of Distinction medals on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Paramount Center for the Arts in downtown Bristol.
The Mayors' Award of Distinction program featured keynote speaker Sharon Randall, a columnist for over 400 newspapers nationwide, including the Bristol Herald Courier. Her southern charm and stories about everyday people and ordinary things made her an ideal speaker for this event.
HONOREES
• Jerauld (Jerry) Hill Goodpasture was honored for her involvement in community projects and activities for many years and for donating countless hours of her personal time and sharing her creative ideas for such recognizable events as Journey's End. Mrs. Goodpasture has been involved with the Bristol Ballet. She serves as spokesperson and honorary chair for Bristol's newly formed Arts and Entertainment District and is a founding member of Believe in Bristol.
• Mimi Price Kind was recognized for her dedication to the children in our community and the impact she has had on the lives of many. She was involved in the evolution of downtown Bristol's Arts and Entertainment District and has served as a representative on the State of Virginia's Arts and Entertainment board, as well as other local boards, including Theatre Bristol. A retired art teacher, she is the recipient of a national award for excellence from the National Council for Art Education.
• Jim White has been described as "a person who goes about his days making others' lives better." He was recognized for his untiring efforts in the community. White serves on the Bristol Ministry Mall Board where not only has he given of his time to the board he also provided a lot of sweat equity in the renovation of a local building the Ministry Mall will be housed in. He became aware of the need for a location such as this through his volunteerism at other faith-based ministries. White has volunteered more than 1750 hours at Bristol Faith in Action. He has served on the Bristol Emergency Food Pantry Board and has been involved with Healing Hands Health Care since its inception.
