Minton Sparks, a wildly original spoken-word artist and master storyteller, will appear as the "Heritage Headliner" for the Tennessee Arts Commission's Cultural Crossroads...Heritage Tourism and the Arts 2.
The highly anticipated conference will return to Jonesborough, Tenn. Oct. 19-20 with all new workshops and sessions which will examine the role of the arts in the development of cultural tourism in Tennessee.
Sparks' unique brand of poetry has been heard on National Public Radio's All Things Considered and the internationally syndicated Woodstrings Old-Time Radio Hour. Her CD "This Dress" won Spoken Word Record of the Year in 2004 with the Just Plain Folk Music Awards and got a nod from the Chicago Sun Times for Top Five Off The Beaten Path Records of 2003. She has just released her third CD, "Sin Sick."
