J. Russell "Jack" Rose of Bristol, Tenn., is the new president of the Appalachian Authors Guild & Associates board of directors.
He has a "day-job" as an agent with CSE Insurance in Abingdon, Va., and is the author of five self-published novels, including Murder in Pleasant Grove, Looking Down on the Moon, In Search of Himself, Marilee and Missing.
Rose was raised on a small farm in Tazewell County, Va. A graduate of Richlands High School, he earned a degree in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, worked for the federal government, and served in the military.
