MORRISTOWN, Tenn. --- The Rose Center & Council for the Arts in Morristown announces the opening of the Rose Center Library & Resource for the Arts.
The library, located on the second floor of the Rose School, houses books on art, art education, exhibitions and collections.
The library is open to the public from 9 a.m .to 5 p.m. daily or by appointment. Information is available by calling 423-581-4330 or visiting www.RoseCenter.org.
The generous contributions of personal collections from former Morristown residents Pat Freels and Brigette Jehle make up the bulk of the library, which also includes many books once stored at the Rose Center.
The hard work of two Morristown Girl Scouts, Hannah Long and Tiffany Torres, brought the Library & Resource for the Arts to fruition. Their dedication achieved for them Gold Awards from Troop 579 of the Tanasi Council of Girl Scouts. The year-long project began with a serious overhaul of the Rose Center facility and installation of equipment to help preserve the books.
FUTURE PLANS
The Rose Center & Council for the Arts receives generous support from the City of Morristown, the Tennessee Arts Commission, United Way of Hamblen County, individuals, and businesses.
The Rose Center Library & Resource for the Arts is poised to ensure growth and development of this valuable Morristown asset. Future plans include installation of wireless network information systems dedicated to research in arts and culture.
A partnership with the Hamblen County School System is envisioned that will expand the ability of teachers to include art and culture in their curricula and for students to experience this necessary educational experience.
