Reaching for the Stars

Following your life's passion is not always easy. It takes a positive attitude, hard work, dedication, and the belief that you can achieve your dream.

Despite budget cuts nationwide, which have greatly impacted the arts, budding artists continue to pursue careers in the arts -- here and around the world.

A! Magazine for the Arts
recently talked to three young people from our area who now live on both sides of the Atlantic:

--- Erin Ginn, a dancer from Kingsport, Tenn., now in New York City;

--- Sara Brimer from Greeneville, Tenn., now with the Swingle Singers in London, England; and

--- Derek Miller, who was active with the Kingsport Theatre Guild and is now the site coordinator for NBC-TV's primetime series Law and Order: SVU.
