Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion (BRRR) has hired Charlene Tipton Baker as its new Director of Marketing and Public Relations.
A Bristol native, Baker's career began in television at age 18 working for WCYB-TV, the highest-rated station in the Tri-Cities region, while still a broadcasting student at East Tennessee State University.
During her 20- year tenure at News 5, Baker worked her way up through the ranks to become an awardwinning producer in Marketing and Promotion over WCYB's three television stations, WCYB News 5, Fox Tri-Cities and Tri-Cities CW4. Her duties at News 5 included working closely with area non-profits such as BRRR, Believe in Bristol, Birthplace of Country Music Alliance, and Paramount Center for the Arts to promote events and to build and maintain relationships with the three stations.
An avid supporter of the region's rich music scene, Baker has worked with BRRR since 2003 when she was invited to sit on the Steering Committee as Marketing Co-Chair. In 2005 she joined the BRRR's Music Committee, helping to book artists for the annual event. In 2006 Baker became Marketing Chair.
