Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion has issued two posters: (1) a 10th Anniversary poster featuring artwork from each year of the festival dating back to 2001, and (2) the 2010 Reunion poster designed by fantasy artist Charles Vess.
Vess said his inspiration came from some well-known "honky tonk" angels at the top of the 2010 Reunion poster (Bill Monroe, Jimmy Rodgers, and the Carter Family) and the street performers who are so popular at Rhythm & Roots. He said the buildings took on a whimsical nature because he knew they were dancing from all the music that they could hear.
Vess also designed the 2006 Reunion poster, one of two posters that are no longer available for purchase. It joined the 2001 Reunion poster as being "sold out" in 2008. Organizers believe the 2010 Reunion poster will also join the ranks of sold out posters and urge collectors to get their poster now.
For every weekend pass purchased, the buyer will receive a 10th Anniversary poster for free, available through September 5, while supplies last. The weekend pass is $40 ($35 before July 1). Single day passes are $25 Friday, $30 Saturday, and $15 Sunday. Tickets available online at www. bristolrhythm.com or at downtown ticket outlets.
