'Round the Mountain adds new artisans to its marketplace

October 30, 2023

‘Round the Mountain hosted a successful fall jury sessions, in which jurors selected 12 submissions for approval. These artisans are eligible to have their work for sale at the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace in Abingdon, Virginia, and online at www.shop.swvaculturalcenter.com.

One artisan was accepted in three separate mediums and two previously juried artisans were accepted in new mediums. This round of artisans in the jury represents a number of mediums, including flintknapping, painting, fiber, woodworking, leatherworking and photography. The 10 artisans come from five communities across Southwest Virginia, including Franklin County, Patrick County, Scott County, Washington County and Wythe County.

The members accepted during the fall 2023 jury session include Tracy Eggleston (leather), Janeise Harmon (rugs), Katherine Johnson (cards), Crissa Lancaster (fiber), Joel Lancaster (wood), Jason Lester (furniture), Jimmy Neal (flintknapping), Jen Otey (watercoclor prints), Julie Walters Steele (photography) and Mindy Wegener (fiber, hats, aprons and patches).

Accepted members were required to have a current ‘Round the Mountain membership and reside in one of the 19 counties of Southwest Virginia. During March, each artisan submitted five individual pieces within each medium and/or technique and present all work as it would be when exhibited in galleries.
