The Paramount Chamber Players opens its 17th concert season with “Arioso,” a tuneful program of music for voice, cello and piano duet rich with melody and song.
The program features cellist Cherylonda Fitzgerald performing “Arioso e sereno” from Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s cello sonata, with Katherine Benson at the piano. Benson is joined at the piano by guest artist Allison Shinnick for a series of classics for piano duet, including Debussy’s “Petite Suite.” Mezzo soprano Rachel Helton graces the stage along with Benson at the piano for several favorite tunes from the American songbook. They are then joined by Fitzgerald for a set of art songs for voice, cello and piano by Berlioz, Massenet and Beach.
