Two Join Photography Faculty at Virginia Intermont

Megan Pinch and Justin James Reed have joined the faculty of the department of photography and digital imaging at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol.

• Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Pinch taught photography and digital media for 10 years in New York, Massachusetts, Texas, and Alabama. Her images have been featured in numerous publications and juried gallery exhibitions. Recent shows include Expo 29 International Juried Competition at b.j. spoke gallery in Huntington, N.Y.; Valdosta National 2010 at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga.; and "New Narratives" at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Md. Her work has been published in CALYX, A Journal of Art and Literature by Women, and Art Buzz, The 2010 Collection. Pinch has received national recognition for her art, winning several awards and grants, including a Fellowship Grant at Women's Studio Workshop in Rosendale, N.Y. In addition to her primary interest in staged photography, her creative interests include video and art books (usually made by hand with art paper, either sewn or glued together).

• Born in Portland, Ore., Reed has lived all over the U.S. and consistently draws from this disparate experience for inspiration. He earned a bachelor of fine arts from Minneapolis College of Art & Design in Minnesota and a master of fine arts degree at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Ambler, Pa. His work, which currently focuses on open spaces around the country, has been exhibited nationally and has been featured in The Collectors Guide to Emerging Art Photography (Humble Arts Foundation) and Jen Bekman's 20x200 project. Reed is a member of the international photography collective, Piece of Cake. He previously held teaching positions at the Tyler School of Art, Moore College of Art & Design, The College of New Jersey, and Pennsylvania College of Art & Design.
