Abingdon artist Anna Kaarina Nenonen has been named curator of The 1912 Gallery, part of the Division of Visual and Performing Arts at Emory & Henry College.
In addition, ceramist Lindsey E. Kincaid has accepted the position of arts assistant in the office of the arts coordinator and The 1912 Gallery.
Nenonen is a native of Finland. Her work is widely exhibited and collected both in Europe and the U.S. Her career as an art educator includes five years at Emory & Henry, where she works as an adjunct professor. Nenonen is the recipient of more than 16 national and international grants, scholarships and awards and has been the subject of and appeared in several publications as well as on Austrian radio and Finnish national television.
Kincaid graduated from Emory & Henry College with a bachelor of arts degree in studio art, ceramics, and and minor in business. She has studied in Rome, Florence, Siena and Pompeli.
Kincaid has been juried into the 2010 From These Hills local artists show at William King Museum. She was a featured artist at the Appalachian Spirit Gallery in Marion, Va., and works at Kil'n Time in Bristol. Her work is on exhibit at numerous venues in the region. She is a volunteer with the A! Magazine for the Arts committee.
