Winners Announced in Wildlife Weekend Photography Contest

BRISTOL, Tenn. --- Winners of the 2008 Wildlife Weekend Photography Contest and Show were announced by Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park (FSCNCP) during the annual weekend celebration held Oct. 10-12 at the park.
The contest was open to amateur photographers submitting pictures taken at Steele Creek Park in Bristol, Tennessee.

Winners in the Adult Division were:
First Place:Andrea Patrick Jones for "Bridge Over Peaceful Waters"
Second Place: Khristina Bowen for "Golden Dreams of Summer"
Third Place: Haley Gilbert for "Mushrooms in the Evening Sun".
Honorable Mentions went to Bill W. Bryant for "Tunnel Vision," Cynthia Gray Harr for "All Butts About It" and "Hooked On Steele Creek," and Lloyd J. Jones for "The Other Side of Nature".

First Place in the Youth Division went to Eden Easterling for "The Flock". Honorable Mentions went to Eden Easterling for "It's Back ? Engine 49" and Taylor Sons for "Summer Daze".

According to Robin Feierabend, coordinator of the photography event and vice president of the Friends organization, this year's contest was their most successful ever. "This has become a very popular part of our annual Wildlife Weekend. There were more entries from more photographers than ever this year. The quality of the photos and the wide variety of subjects did an excellent job of capturing the essence of Steele Creek Park." Feierabend said.

FSCNCP is a nonprofit, volunteer organization whose primary purposes are to assist the Nature Center staff in educational, recreational, and research activities, to assist with the development and maintenance of park trails, gardens and facilities, and to preserve and protect the natural areas of Steele Creek Park.
