'The Possum Trap' is on stage

June 28–29, 2025 @ The Lincoln Theatre

The Lincoln Theatrehosts "The Possum Trap," an Appalachian Echoes Community Theatre production, Saturday, June 28 at 6p.m. and Sunday, June 29 at 4p.m.

A classic murder mystery play with a Marion twist hits the Lincoln Theatre’s historic stage June 28 and 29. Appalachian Echoes Community Theatre presents "The Possum Trap," an Appalachian murder mystery parody. This live stage performance is a fun and thrilling whodunit with all the typical tropes– and some added twang. A young couple operating a new guesthouse become trapped in their home with five strange visitors during a snowstorm. When news of a murder in a neighboring town comes to light, a series of mysterious events causes the guests and hosts to become increasingly suspicious of one another.

This is the first community theaterproduction hosted at The Lincoln Theatre in more than five years, and the very first to be produced by Appalachian Echoes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to highlighting and empowering creative voices in Southwest Virginia. Hannah Combs, director of the organization and production (also a talented actor), has facilitated a variety of projects that have made the arts more accessible. From poetry workshops and art showcases to magic shows, Appalachian Echoes has quickly become a pillar of the community, connecting artists and giving them an outlet to share their stories and talents. Projects like "The Possum Trap" not only represent the wealth of local creativity but also the desire to share something meaningful with the community.
